Lamine Yamal showed why he is Barcelona’s most important player at the moment as he scored two goals in a routine 4-1 away victory versus Girona in the Primera Division.
Los Cules made it five victories out of five in La Liga for the 2024/25 campaign after the double from Yamal and goals from Dani Olmo and Pedri.
It was the two goals from the young Spaniard that allowed Barca to head into the break 2-0 up, with Olmo and Pedri scoring in the second half. Cristhian Stuani scored a consolation for Girona with 10 minutes to go.
Player of the Match
Yamal was sensational on the day and earned his double after a couple of emphatic finishes with that cultured left foot of his. The first game while one-on-one with the goalkeeper, while the second was sent into the left corner from near the edge of the box.
He had two additional shots on target, too.
The 17-year old terrorised the Girona midfield and defence and won no less than 10 duels during his time on the pitch, as well as 5/6 tackles.
Yamal worked extremely hard throughout, as highlighted by his tally of eight ball recoveries.
Worst Player
Girona centre-back David Lopez had a torrid time on the day.
Remarkably, Lopez failed to even ATTEMPT a single tackle during his 90 minutes on the pitch, while he also failed to win a single duel despite being involved in four.
Zero tackles, zero duels won, zero aerial duels won,
He had a decent pass completion rate, but his lack of defensive actions was telling.
