Juventus vs PSV Champions League Prediction: The Old Lady returns

Italian giants Juventus return to the Champions League in 2024/25 just in time to be part of the brand new league table format.

The Bianconeri had spent a year away from Europe’s top table but secured qualification last season and in their first match they face PSV at home.

Match Preview

Juventus Recent Form

Juventus have made a solid enough start to life under new head coach Thiago Motta, who has guided his side to a four-game unbeaten run in Serie A.

He enjoyed a superb start, defeating Como 3-0 at home and then Hellas Verona 3-0 away.

However, Juve’s last two results have been 0-0 draws against Roma and Empoli respectively.

They are yet to concede a goal this season.

Juventus Injury News

Motta has had to contend with a few injury issues recently but the squad is looking healthier now, with only Francisco Conceicao out injured.

Teun Koopmeiners, Nico Gonzalez, Pierre Kalulu and Douglas Luiz made their starting debuts at the weekend, while Kephren Thuram and Timothy Weah returned from injury.

PSV Recent Form

PSV couldn’t have hoped for a better start to the new campaign as they have won five out of five in the Eredivisie – and in some style.

They have defeated RKC, Heracles, Almere, Go Ahead Eagles and NEC Breda.

The RKC win was 5-1, while they put seven past Almere. They have scored 22 and conceded three in five games.

PSV Injury News

Luuk de Jong and Ismael Saibari both returned from injury at the weekend, but Noa Lang missed out so there are concerns over him.

Rick Karsdop, Sergino Dest, Hiving Lozano and Armando Obispo are either major doubts or have been confirmed as absent.

Juventus – Player To Watch

Juventus may have a new-look team this season, but their biggest threat going forward remains powerful striker Dusan Vlahovic. He hasn’t been great in the last couple of games, but he’ll be hoping to finally make a mark in the Champions League.
