Paul Mitchell and Eddie Howe reach agreement after talks this week – Report

As revealed in an exclusive from Mark Douglas at the i, Paul Mitchell has met with Eddie Howe this week in a bid to bury any tension following a tough summer transfer window on Tyneside.

The pair’s relationship has been under scrutiny and a constant topic in recent press conferences, but it’s believed they are more than willing to work together and have held positive talks in recent days.

Douglas reveals that the duo have held ‘constructive dialogue’ and ironed out any previous differences in opinion to help the “move forward” from this point onwards, with Howe also supportive of Mitchell’s recruitment plans as he prepares to tweak our approach to transfers heading into 2025.

There’s also thought to be ‘total confidence’ in Howe from Mitchell’s perspective, with PIF also backing our new sporting director’s vision to broaden our scouting network to a global level and introduce a more data-driven approach to scouting and recruitment.

After some were concerned that Howe and Mitchell had not spoken since the latter’s big interview with the local press a few weeks ago, this is a positive sign and hopefully a move that brings harmony behind the scenes and silences a few in the media determined to report on unrest between the pair.
