In a huge boost for FC Barcelona, midfielder and third captain Frenkie de Jong is all set to make his comeback after a five-month absence through injury.
The 27-year-old superstar has not been seen in action since April after he suffered an ankle injury during a game against Real Madrid.
Having opted against undergoing surgery, the Dutchman has been recovering from the issue and returned to training last week which was a welcome boost.
It was initially expected that De Jong could be back in action this week, either against Getafe or Osasuna, but that was not the case.
De Jong to receive medical discharge tomorrow
Now, journalist Xavi Campos reports that De Jong will be receiving his medical clearance from the staff tomorrow, i.e., Monday.
As such, the midfield heavyweight will be available at manager Hansi Flick’s disposal for the UEFA Champions League clash against Young Boys on Tuesday night.

This will come as a huge boost for Barça, considering the very few options that the manager has in midfield owing to injury-enforced absences.
While De Jong might not be in a position to start matches right away, his return gives Flick the opportunity to manage the game-time of others like Pedri and Marc Casado in a better way.
What did De Jong say about his condition?
Earlier today, De Jong gave an extensive interview to the club media, during which he discussed his fitness condition as well as other things like not opting for surgery and his salary.
“It has been a tough process, the ankle is delicate, but I am improving and I am close to returning,” he said.
Continuing, he added: “Every day, when you get out of bed, you look at your ankle to see how it is, you are thinking about your ankle all day, so mentally it is a tough process because football is what I like most.”
