October 7 – Concacaf’s two regional club cup competitions in Central America and the Caribbean have now reached the semi-final stages with the two-leg ties scheduled for the end of this month.
The four Central American semi-finalists have already confirmed a spot in next year’s Concacaf Champions Cup with the losing quarter finalists playing off for a further two Champions Cup slots.
The two finalists plus third place club in the Caribbean Cup will qualify for the Champions Cup.
Costa Rican clubs dominant
Two Costa Rican clubs, LD Alajuelense and CS Herediano, have qualified for the semis of the Central American Cup and been drawn apart, setting up the possibility of an all-Costa Rican final. They play Guatemala’s Antigua GFC and Real Esteli FC from Nicaragua.
The four losing quarterfinalists, Comunicaciones FC (GUA), FC Motagua (HON), CD Aguila (SLV) and Deportivo Saprissa (CRC) will compete in the Concacaf Central American Cup Play-In.
The home-and-away series will be played October 22-24 (first legs) and 29-31, 2024 (second legs).
Semifinal 1: LD Alajuelense vs Antigua GFC
Semifinal 2: Real Esteli FC vs CS Herediano
Play-In 1: Comunicaciones FC vs Deportivo Saprissa
Play-In 2: CD Aguila vs FC Motagua
Dominican Republic guaranteed a finalist
In the Caribbean Cup, Dominican Republic’s Cibao FC and Moca FC will meet in one semi-final.
In the other semi-final Jamaica’s Cavalier FC and Haiti’s Real Hope FA will play off. With the political instability in Haiti making it impossible for Real Hope to host their home game, a venue for the match is still to be announced.
The finals and third place series are scheduled for November 26-28 (First Legs) and December 3-5 (Second Legs).
