Barcelona decide to make another goalkeeping signing in January or June

The injury to Marc-Andre ter Stegen has led Barcelona to desperately try and sort out issues in their goalkeeping department.

The club notably called Wojciech Szczesny back from retirement to serve as a potential alternative for ter Stegen.

He is expected to compete with Inaki Pena for the number one spot, but it appears coach Hansi Flick prefers having the Pole start in goal.

Barcelona to sign one more goalkeeper

However, a recent report from Miguel Rico (h/t FCB World) has offered an interesting insight into Barcelona’s plans for the goalkeeping department.

It appears the Catalans are not fully convinced with their current firepower and are likely to go after another goalkeeper.

That signing could come either in January or the summer of 2025. The timing of the signing is yet to be finalised, but sporting director Deco and coach Hansi Flick both agree on the fact that bringing in a new shot-stopper could be a necessity.

Who can Barcelona go after?

Barcelona should find no shortage of options in the market, as far as goalkeepers are concerned.

The name of Portuguese ace Diogo Costa has been heavily mentioned in recent weeks, although Barcelona will face competition from Manchester City.

There are multiple free agents currently available in the market, including Keylor Navas, Edgar Badia, and Loris Karius. Moreover, several goalkeepers will have their contracts expiring at the end of the season.

This list includes the likes of Walter Benitez, David de Gea and Matthew Ryan, among others. Even Manuel Neuer is set to become a free agent in 2025, though the German is more than likely to retire at Bayern Munich.

OGC Nice star Marcin Bulka has also been linked with a move to Barcelona, though the Pole refused to comment on his future.
