Barcelona midfielder’s return from injury could be pushed to next week – report

Recent updates from MARCA indicate that Dani Olmo’s return to action for Barcelona might be postponed until next week. 

This is because the midfielder has yet to rejoin his teammates for training sessions. While there is no definitive decision ruling him out for the upcoming matchday, the club has opted not to rush his recovery. 

At this point, it remains uncertain whether he will be available for the game against Sevilla. Currently, there is no clear timeline regarding Olmo’s return, creating ambiguity about his participation in the match. 

Although all options are still on the table, it seems more likely that he will make his comeback during the Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich on Wednesday or at the latest, for the El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

Olmo is working on his fitness

It has been suggested that Olmo is working on recovering from a hamstring injury in his right leg, which he sustained during a match against Girona exactly one month ago, on September 15.

The club initially estimated that he would be sidelined for approximately four to five weeks, so his current timeline aligns with those expectations. 

Furthermore, it was suggested that he might feature against Sevilla for a brief cameo, but that is now looking unlikely.

Important for Barcelona

This season, Olmo has played a significant role for Barcelona, participating in four matches since his registration, including three in LaLiga and one in the Champions League. 

He has notably scored in three of those La Liga matches. His late registration, primarily due to the club’s financial struggles, combined with the hamstring injury, has limited his ability to contribute more substantially to the team.
