Newcastle ‘ready to try again’ for €30m man after summer interest – Report

According to reports in Italy, Newcastle United are showing interest in AC Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori ahead of the January transfer window.

This comes from Milan Live, who claim that we ‘knocked on Milan’s door’ over the summer and are ‘ready to try again’ in a fresh bid to sign the 26-year-old defender.

The report states that he’s valued at €30m and could depart the Italian giants in the New Year, with Aston Villa, West Ham and Fulham all thought to be big admirers of Tomori.

His profile is similar to that of ‘top target’ Marc Guehi, being a ball-playing centre-back who often plays on the left despite being right-footed. Like Guehi, he’s not particularly tall – both are just over 6ft’ – but would bring some athleticism and recovery pace to our back line.

Tomori was tentatively linked with a possible move to Newcastle over the summer, yet it was Milan teammate Malick Thiaw who was tipped to sign before our attention seemingly turned to Guehi at Crystal Palace.

The former Chelsea talent may fancy a return to Premier League football and will have aspirations of forcing his way back into the England fold under new boss Thomas Tuchel, but time will tell if he’s being considered as a genuine cut-price alternative to Guehi as we edge closer to the January window.
