Robert Lewandowski’s resurgence is one of the key factors driving Barcelona’s success in the league so far.
The Polish striker, who was wanted out of the club by former manager Xavi, has enjoyed a stunning start to the season under Hansi Flick and is currently scoring goals for fun.
Ten games into La Liga, the Polish striker is in the lead for the Pichichi award, an accolade he won during his first season in Catalonia but failed to secure last season.
The standings
Ahead of Barcelona’s home game against Sevilla, Lewandowski sits pretty on the top of the league standings with ten goals to his name. That number can increase tonight when Barcelona play their tenth game.
Real Madrid phenom Kylian Mbappe is in second place with six goals to his name after his stunning strike against Celta Vigo but has notably played one more game than Lewy. Ayoze Perez of Villarreal matches his number and has a game in hand.

Raphinha, Vinicius Jr and Giovanni Lo Celso are placed third with five goals apiece but it is only the Blaugrana who has played one game less and still has a chance to pull ahead before the end of the match-day.
Notably, Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal is just behind with four goals to his name so far and will also look to extend his dominance tonight.
There is still a long way to go in La Liga, but all signs point to the ultimate battle being between Barcelona’s Lewandowski and Real Madrid’s Mbappe. Currently, it is the Pole who is winning the race and by some margin.
At 36 years of age, the striker has scored five goals in his last two games across all competitions and has six goals in his last four La Liga appearances. Including the UEFA Champions League, his tally is currently 12 goals in just 11 games.
