Real Betis got back on track in La Liga play Saturday and Johnny Cardoso was among the positive performers for the club.
Cardoso logged a strong 90 minutes as Real Betis defeated Osasuna 2-1 away from home. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder earned SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors in the process.
Cardoso did not feature in the USMNT’s first window under Mauricio Pochettino, but did get back to playing. The 23-year-old led all players in fouls drawn (5) and duels won (6), helping Manuel Pellegrini’s squad leapfrog Osasuna in the league table.
With six La Liga appearances under his belt now, Cardoso will aim to retain his spot for the resumption of Real Betis’ UEFA Europa Conference League schedule this week. The Spanish club hosts FC Kobenhaven on Thursday, seeking their first win in this season’s group stage.

Pulisic has been AC Milan’s best player of the season so far.
Josh Sargent
It wasn’t a Top 10 assist or anything, but it was another goal contribution for Josh Sargent.
Sargent registered his fourth helper of the EFL Championship campaign as Norwich City tied Stoke City 1-1. The USMNT forward set up Ante Crnac for Norwich’s opener before Stoke City equalized before halftime.
Sargent has been impactful in numerous ways for the Canaries this fall.
