The Ballon d’Or will be awarded tonight at a glittering awards ceremony in Paris but has the winner already been named on social media?
Various platforms were awash with apparent leaks last night that claimed Vinicius Jnr was this year’s recipient after beating off the challenge of Rodri.
The Real Madrid winger had a weekend to forget after Carlo Ancelotti’s men lost the season’s first El Clasico with Barcelona cruising to an emphatic 4-0 win at the Santiago Bernabeu.
But he could be happier tonight if the leaks are to be believed.

There is nothing to suggest the leaks are valid but they had Vinicius on 630 points, 54 more than Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri.
Vinicius Jnr’s Madrid team-mate Jude Bellingham was third, ahead of Kylian Mbappe in fourth and Harry Kane fifth.
Perhaps surprisingly, City goal machine Erling Haaland was only sixth.
Lamine Yamal, Phil Foden, Dani Olmo and Florian Wirtz rounded out the top 10.
Neither Lionel Messi, nor Cristiano Ronaldo, who have dominated the award over the past two decades were nominated for the first time in 21 years.
